The original purpose was to confirm the location of the Manor House of Stratton as both the Grange farm and Stratton House sites were feasible. This led to an historical appraisal of the village and the Lords of the Manor who were closely associated with the Church of their time, which held a measurable influence in the affairs of the Parish.
In medieval times Stratton is often linked with Daglingworth. The Poll Tax of 1381 has 39 heads of house in Stratton and Daglingworth. The latter had a larger number of dwellings at that time than Stratton.
